VG PSA 3 Gold Variation Full Ticket to 1967 Super Bowl I between the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs played January 15 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. In June 1966, the NFL and AFL announced a merger resulting initially in the creation of a title game between the two league champions at the end of the '66 season. The Packers launched the Super Bowl series by whipping the AFL champion Kansas City Chiefs, 35-10, behind the passing of Bart Starr, the receiving of Max McGee, and a key interception by All-Pro safety Willie Wood. Vince Lombardi's repeating NFL champions broke open the game with three second-half touchdowns. Starr completed 16 of 23 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns and was chosen as the game's Most Valuable Player. The Packers collected $15,000 per player and the Chiefs $7,500 apiece - the largest single-game shares in the history of team sports at the time.
This gold variation Super Bowl I ticket, a $12 Reserved Seat, is clean both front and back with about VG to EX looking corners. Reason for VG rating is horizontal creasing just below the center of ticket. A highly significant collectible from a landmark event in sports history.
SMR value is $7,000 for a VG-EX PSA 4, so it is likely $5,000+ for a VG PSA 3.
