A three-time Cy Young Award winner and eight-time All-Star who captured a World Series title with the Boston Red Sox in 2004, Pedro Martinez was among the greatest pitchers of his era during his 18-year run in Major League Baseball. The offered jersey is an outstanding early career memento from Pedro’s four-year stint in Montreal (1994-97) when he came into his own as a dominant ace. He won his first Cy Young in '97 as an Expo, going 17-8 with a 1.91 ERA, 13 complete games, and 305 K's in 241 innings.
On the left front tail of this jersey is the "Russell" manufacturer’s size 44 wash instructions tag. Attached below is the "100% Polyester" flag tag. Across the front of the jersey is "EXPOS" in blue red tackle twill. Below that on front is the player number "45" in the same tackle twill. Across the back is the player name "MARTINEZ" sewn directly on the jersey and below that is the player number "45" all done blue on red tackle twill. On the right sleeve is the "Russell" embroidered logo. On the left sleeve is the "Montreal Expos" patch. The jersey shows light to medium game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. The Expos uniforms were unchanged in every aspect from 1995-96, and with the generic tagging, this jersey is deemed 1995 or 1996 game-worn.
Includes a MEARS Auction LOA.
