Defenseman Grant Ledyard played 23 years in the NHL, primarily with the Dallas Stars and Buffalo Sabres, finishing out his career with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2001-02. This lot features his game-worn road jersey from that final season, more notably his 1000th career game on December 12, 2001 in which the Tampa Bay defeated the Calgary Flames, 3-1. At the age of 40, Ledyard played 53 games that season while still serving as a reliable safety net on the Lightning's back line. The black road gamer has the Tampa Bay Lightning team crest on the front with the franchise's 10th Anniversary patch on the upper right chest. A "Made in Canada (manufacturer label missing)" tag is inside the collar next to a size "56" flag tag. "LEDYARD" in white tackle twill is sewn on a black nameplate across the back with a "KOHO" patch stitched above. Ledyard's No. "3" is sewn on the back and both sleeves in white lines in blue and silver. Lightning team patches adorn both shoulders as well. This milestone jersey is well-documented on the interior fight strap with "1000th CAREER GAME @ CALGARY 12-12-01" and "1st PERIOD" to indicate that he likely changes jerseys before the 2nd period. In addition, Ledyard has signed the back number with the inscription "1000th NHL GAME 12/12/01 3-1 win vs. CALGARY FLAMES" in 9/10 black marker. The sweater shows moderate wear with slash marks and sweat staining on the sleeves.

Includes Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
