7-time All-Star Doug Wilson spent 14 of his 16 seasons in the NHL playing for the Chicago Blackhawks. Offered here is his 1988-89 game-worn and signed road jersey with a letter signed by Wilson to verify it's authenticity. Wilson tallied 62 points in 66 games that year and ranks as the club's highest scoring defenseman in points (779—fifth overall), goals (225—12th overall) and assists (554—third overall). He is fifth all-time in games played (938) for Chicago and led Blackhawk defensemen in scoring ten straight years. Wilson felt no need to wear a helmet on the ice and was known for his renegade style of play. In 1982, he was awarded the James Norris Memorial Trophy as the NHL's top defenseman when he notched 39 goals and 85 total points, which remains the Blackhawks single-season record for goals and points by a defenseman.
The red CCM/Gunzo's sweater has a striking Blackhawks crest patch on the front with two smaller Chicago "C" logo patches on the shoulders. "D.WILSON" in white tackle twill is sewn on a back red nameplate. Wilson's No. "24" in white-on-black tackle twill is stitched on the front, back and sleeves. The CCM and GUNZO'S (the team's local equipment/apparel partner) patches are sewn on the back shirttail. Size and manufacturer's tagging has been removed inside the collar. Wilson has signed the back '2' in 7/10 black marker. Fight strap is present. Letters and numbers are all original. The jersey displays incredible game use with around 20 team repairs (maybe more), most of which appear on the sleeves and shirttail. There is a plethora of black stick/puck marks and board burns, making the bottom half of the sweater resemble an auto mechanic's shirt after a long day's work. Includes 1/29/1991 LOA signed by Doug Wilson. Also comes with a letter of provenance from the Newport Sports Museum. Autograph pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
