The vaunted Denver Broncos defense should be given most of the credit for the team's Super Bowl Championship run in 2015. After getting pummeled 43-8 in Super Bowl XLVIII by the Seattle Seahawks two years earlier, the Denver front office realized that Peyton Manning needed more help on the other side of the ball. So they went out and acquired several Pro Bowl free agents, signing stud pass-rusher DeMarcus Ware from the Cowboys to compliment Von Miller and shoring up the secondary with Aqib Talib and T.J. Ward. Ware may have been the key ingredient turning a good defense into a great one. It all came to fruition during the 2015 postseason when the Denver D stalemated three of the league's highest-powered offenses by beating the Steelers, Patriots and Panthers in succession to take home the Lombardi trophy and give Peyton the best farewell gift he could ask for. Featured here is DeMarcus Ware's game-worn home jersey from Denver's final 2015 regular season game on January, 3, 2016 vs. San Diego. In what turned out to be a critical game for clinching home field advantage throughout the playoffs, the Broncos prevailed 27-20 over the rival Chargers. Ware recorded one sack, a tackle and assisted on another during the game. For the season, he tallied 7.5 sacks in 11 games bringing relentless pressure on opposing QBs. The jersey comes courtesy of Panini Authentic's exclusive game-used memorabilia partnership with the Denver Broncos.
The orange jersey comes in size "40" as seen on the Nike label inside the collar, with serial number 219110036018 and the year "2015" flag tag attached. Ware's captain "C" patch (with two stars for number of years chosen as captain) is sewn on the right chest above his number "94", which comes in white-on-navy blue tackle twill. "BRONCOS" is stitched on the upper chest between the numbers and NFL logo at the collar. Navy blue trim runs around the collar and up the sides of the body. Each shoulder displays Ware's "94" as does the back, all in the same white-on-navy format. "WARE" appears across the back in white tackle twill on an orange nameplate. The jersey shows outstanding game use, with several blue paint transfers on the right shoulder (Getty 503501588 photo match) and puncture marks on the front numbers from violent, on-field collisions. It still carries a minor stench of perspiration as well. Comes in its original Panini Authentic presentation box. Awesome gamer from a guy with 134.5 career sacks who may wind up enshrined in Canton some day.
Includes Letter of Authenticity from Denver Broncos and COA (PA35265) from Panini Authentic.
