Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim is used to launching home runs. Through his first four full seasons in the majors (2012-2015), Trout has hit 134 round-trippers, averaging 33.5 per year. This lot features a game-used second base bag from the June 27, 2014, game between the visiting Angels and the host Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. The season would eventually be Trout’s to own as he racked up incredible numbers (.287 BA, 36 homers and a league-leading 111 RBI) on his way to winning the American League MVP award. But in this particular game, he did something else that was extraordinary. Besides going 2-for-4 with one RBI in a losing (8-6) cause, Trout belted a magnificent moon shot in the first inning that traveled 489 feet! It set a new record for the longest home run ever hit in Kauffman Stadium, which originally opened its doors as Royals Stadium on April 10, 1973. The game-used base offered here, which includes its 5.5” metal post below it, is caked with dirt on the top and is clearly marked on each side with Kansas City Royals logos and markings. On two of the sides, in fact, it calls out “Royals vs. Angels” with added text reading: “KAUFFMAN STADIUM JUNE 27, 2014.” The top of the base includes the raised “SCHUTT” manufacturer’s logo as well as the “MLB” and “Original Hollywood Bases Jack Corbett” logos.

Includes MLB Authentication hologram (#HZ 173305).
