Steve Young was the USFL’s $40 million dollar man when he joined the L.A. Express for the 1984 and 1985 campaigns. He threw for 4,100 yards/16 TD’s in a year and half, running (at times for his life) for 880 additional yards. He even played at running back in a 1985 game. This Express home jersey was worn by Young during the ’84 season. On the front left tail is the “RUSSELL ATHLETIC” manufacturer’s tag with size “46” and wash instructions. Across the front, on back and on each shoulder is the player number “8” screenprinted in grey and white. Across the back is the player name “YOUNG” screenprinted in white on a navy blue mesh nameplate. The jersey is properly tagged and shows appropriate light quarterback use. Young, of course, moved on to a Hall of Fame career with the 49ers after a brief stop in Tampa, but he got his start in the USFL after a brilliant collegiate career at BYU.
