The USC Trojans football program produced has produced its fair share of gridiron standouts, All-America selections and even Heisman Trophy winners. This lot feature a variety of seven different footballs – Wilson white panel balls, Wilson NFL balls, even Trojan emblazoned balls – sporting the signatures of former superstars – including all seven USC Heisman Trophy winners (Mike Garrett, O.J. Simpson, Charles White, Marcus Allen, Carson Palmer, Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart) who went on to football fame in the NFL. Two of the Wilson white panel variety boast the signature of former Super Bowl MVP Lynn Swann, while a third sports the autograph of Marcus Allen. A fourth white football, a Heisman Trophy emblazoned Baden football – features the signature of O.J. Simpson who added the inscription “1968” to mark his Heisman-winning season. A fifth football, an official National league Football version, also includes Simpson’s signature in gold marker next to the inscription “32” to indicate his uniform number. A single white panel Wilson football holds six of seven Trojans’ Heisman winners’ signatures in black marker with the remaining signature in faded gold by Carson Palmer who added “02” for his season next to his scrawl. The remaining football is an older Trojan-emblazoned pigskin that appears to hold more than 30 different signatures from the 1968 USC squad which finished No. 2 in the country following a 27-16 defeat in the Rose Bowl to the Ohio State Buckeyes. Although many of the ink-signed autographs have faded over time, many are still legible. Notable signatures include O.J. Simpson, Mike Holmgren, Bob Chandler, John Blanche, Jim Snow, Joe Obbema and John Young.
