By the time he became a member of the Boston Red Sox in 1998, Hall of Fame right-hander Pedro Martinez was clearly one of the most dominant pitchers in Major League Baseball. His legend only grew as he finished his illustrious career with three Cy Young Awards, 219 victories and 3,154 strikeouts.

This lot features a game-worn fielder’s glove that Martinez used during the dawn of his career, circa 1992-93 when he was just a 20- and 21-year-old rookie hurler for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He compiled a modest 10-6 record with 127 K's over his first two seasons wearing Dodger Blue. The offered black and brown SSK professional model series mitt shows extensive use with noticeable pocket wear. It is constructed out of leather and features modified webbing with black lacing. The glove is sporting a clearly marked “45” in silver (Martinez’s uniform number) on the outside of the left thumb area. This is a great piece of game-used sports memorabilia worn by one of the Baseball Hall of Fame’s most recent inductees.
