The great Bob Gibson was a dominating right-handed pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals who pitched from 1959 to 1975 for the Redbirds. He racked up an overall record of 251-174, won a pair of National League Cy Young awards (1968 and ’70) and was named the N.L.’s MVP in 1968 after going 22-9 with a league-leading 268 K’s and an astounding 1.12 ERA. He also won a pair of World Series titles (1964 and ’67) and was named the Fall Classic MVP on both occasions. In the ’67 World Series versus the Boston Red Sox, Gibson could do no wrong as he registered three wins via three complete game performances and recorded an ERA of 1.00.

This lot features a late 1960’s Bob Gibson autographed and game-worn St. Louis Cardinals baseball cap. The red New Era Pro Model cap (size 7 3/8) is sporting the official “STL” logo embroidered in white and outlined in blue on the front and shows considerable wear throughout. Sweat stains are evident throughout the cap’s liner and his uniform number “45” appears in black ink on the underside of the bill. What’s more, Gibson has signed the top of the brim in black fine-point marker. His signature is strong and rates 8-9/10 in our book. A great piece of classic sports memorabilia from one of the league’s most dominant Hall of Fame hurlers of all time.

Autograph is pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
