ADDENDUM: Photo research indicates circa 1996-2001 game use.

Retired MLB slugger Mark McGwire belted a total of 583 home runs over the course of his 16-year career. The 12-time All-Star also scooped up one Gold Glove award for his stellar play at first base in 1990 while playing for the Oakland A’s. This lot features a Mark McGwire game-used Rawlings Professional Model (PRO-CMHCB) first baseman’s glove. The black “Heart of the Hide” leather glove with brown highlights and laces shows solid use and includes “Mark McGwire” embroidered in yellow on the outside of the left thumb area. Images online indicate that Big Mac used this same model and style glove starting in 1996 as an Oakland Athletic through his legendary milestone seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals with whom he retired after the 2001 season. Gloves are the most treasured pieces of memorabilia for players, and this one is certainly no different. Sourced directly from the renowned estate collection of the late Delbert Mickel.
