1961 St. Louis Cardinals white home jersey game worn by manager Solly Hemus. After an 11 year playing career, the first 8 with St. Louis, Hemus took over the Cardinal reigns in 1959. Finishing 3rd in 1960 with a 86-68 record, St. Louis had high hopes for 1961. When the team started 33-41 in the first half, Hemus was fired. This white wool button-down jersey features “Cardinals” across the chest in red with two cardinal birds perched on a bat in red-yellow-and-midnight navy stitching. The number “7” has been sewn on the back in red with dark navy blue trim. A Rawlings main label size 42 tag appears on the left front tail with “Hemus 61” stitched in red script onto the fabric below. On the interior tail flap is a washing instructions label with a "Set 1 1961" flap tag. Jersey shows wear consistent with being worn by a manager and is in beautiful, original, problem free condition.
