Nelson Briles was a right-handed pitcher who played 14 seasons in the major leagues, the first six of which were spent throwing fastballs for the St. Louis Cardinals. This lot features Briles’ 1970 St. Louis Cardinals game-worn home jersey, a season in which the Redbirds finished fourth in the National League East standings with a record of 76-86.

The white flannel jersey includes proper tagging on the left front tail including the Rawlings (size 44) manufacturer’s tag as well as a washing instructions tag attached to which is a flag tag reading: “Set 1 #8P 1970.” Just above the Rawlings tag on the front is "Briles 70" in red script stitching. The pristine black-and-red felt letters (“BRILES”) and numbers (“34”) front and back are perfect, as is the elegant chenille Cardinals two-bird embroidered logo above the cursive "Cardinals" on the front. The unaltered, original jersey shows minimal usage wear and appears in impeccable shape considering its 46 years in existence.
