Miami Marlins right-fielder Giancarlo Stanton made his MLB debut in 2010 as a member of the Florida Marlins. He went by "Mike" for his first two seasons when he hit a total of 56 home runs. He started going by "Giancarlo" when the team moved into their downtown Miami stadium and became the Miami Marlins. After a monster 2014 in which he mashed 37 homers and drove in 137 runs to finish 2nd in the NL MVP voting, Stanton signed a 13-year, $325 million extension which stands as the largest contract in professional sports. He continued his power surge in 2015 with a league-leading 27 homers and 67 RBI through 74 games, before a broken hand cut his season short.
This lot features Stanton's 2010 Florida Marlins game-worn home jersey from his rookie season. The size 52 Authentic Collection Majestic white pinstriped button-down shirt reads "MARLINS" across the front in black tackle twill letters outlined in silver and aqua. His uniform number "27" rest on the left breast in similar tackle twill fashion. The front left tail sports the proper Majestic manufacturer's tagging including a size 52 call-out and the Majestic "COOL BASE" strip tag on the jersey's left seam. The back of the jersey shows "STANTON" in arched fashion across the shoulders in black tackle twill outlined in silver and aqua positioned right above his uniform number "27" in similar tackle twill fashion. The official MLB logo patch appears on the outside of the rear collar. The jersey demonstrates light use with some fraying of the numbers and letters evident.
