Legendary sports artist LeRoy Neiman drew a series of 10 original sketches depicting different situations on the diamond. A collection of etchings from these original drawings known as the "Baseball Player Suite" was issued in 1972, each limited to 150. Neiman's studio was located in New York City and he was a frequent visitor to Yankee Stadium in the 1960s. The collection certainly reflects his New York bias, as a number of etchings depict generic players in pinstripes and one even captures the famed Yankee Stadium facade in the background. "Sliding Home" is anonymous, but we have to assume he was picturing one of the great Yankees of the past like Joe DiMaggio or Mickey Mantle. This one is hand-number 111/150 on the bottom left across from Neiman's lovely pencil autograph. Image area is 7.37 x 8.25 inches. It comes nicely matted and framed to on overall size of 22" by 23".
