In 1988, Dodgers’ Hall of Fame pitcher started his very own Hall of Fame Golf Classic in Palm Desert, California. Even after his death in 1993, the event brought together the best of the best from a multitude of sports. This lot features a multi-signed Don Drysdale Signature Model Louisville Slugger bat along with a separate 11” by 14” piece of poster board that both hold dozens of autographs from the participating stars. The 36-inch bat boasts 38 signatures in black sharpie on the barrel. Top autographs include football standouts like Ray Nitschke, Chuck Bednarik, Marion Motley, Gale Sayers, Don Maynard, Jim Taylor, Deacon Jones, Paul Warfield and Otto Graham alongside MLB stars such as Ernie Banks, Johnny Bench, Duke Snider, Ralph Kiner and Drysdale himself. Other sports stars included John Havlicek, Ed Macauley and Rick Barry (basketball) and Pancho Gonzales and Rod Laver (tennis). The piece of poster board includes many of the same signatures, although they are all in varying degrees of black marker. Other notable names on the poster board include baseball Hall of Famers Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford and Willie McCovey.
