Outside of throwing fastballs to opposing batters, one of the late Don Drysdale’s favorite pastimes was playing golf. “Big D’ played countless rounds of golf during and after his playing career ended and this lot features one of Drysdale’s heavily used, circa 1980's red-and-white Wilson golf bags complete with a full set of clubs. The bag itself, which measures 35” tall, shows excessive wear and includes a half dozen bag tags reflecting Drysdale’s name from various southern California golf courses and events across the country including the Oakmont Country Club in Glendale, Calif.; the David L. Wolper Tournament of Stars Golf Benefit in Napa, Calif.; The Club at Morningside in Rancho Mirage, Calif.; the 1985 World Cup in La Quinta, Calif.; as well as the United Airlines Hawaiian Open.

The set itself boasts a pair of often used Wilson iron woods (driver, 10.5-degree loft, and 5 wood, 20.0-degree loft), as well as a complete set of Wilson Staff “Tour Blade” irons (2 through 9) and three wedges (pitching, sand and sand - 60-degree loft). Both iron woods are sporting red leather Wilson head covers. All clubs, judging by the condition of their grips, show that Drysdale used them extensively. A two-toned, silver and bronze Cobra putter completes the set. Excessive wear is evident throughout the entire head of the putter. A severely soiled “Morningside” golf towel still hangs prominently from the side of the bag. Dozens of used and unused golf balls still reside in every pocket and pouch of the bag.

Includes LOA from the Drysdale Family.
