During the 2008 MLB season, San Diego Padres slugging first baseman Adrian Gonzalez turned in his best power numbers to date. He launched 36 home runs, drove in 119 runs and scored 103 runs. Though the Padres finished fifth in the National League West standings that year, Gonzalez’s career was just starting to take flight. This lot features an Adrian Gonzalez autographed and game-used Marucci (“Bone Rubbed”) professional model bat. The 35-inch, hand-crafted black bat (RH6) includes his name engraved in the barrel and shows unquestioned game use with contact, cleat and bat rack marks throughout and a large 13-inch crack in the handle where a portion of the bat broke off. The knob of the bat includes his uniform number “23” engraved in white as well as the bat’s date of issue “2/3/08.” Gonzalez has signed the barrel of the bat in silver marker and included the inscription “PS 27:1” below his signature that stands for Psalm 27: “The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid?”
Includes MLB Authentication hologram (#LH 244125) for the autograph. Also pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
