In 1987, Kansas City Royals Hall of Fame third baseman George Brett batted .290 with 22 home runs and 78 runs batted in. It marked Brett’s 15th straight season with the Royals as the team finished second in the American League West Division standings with a record of 83-79. This lot features Brett’s autographed and game-worn 1987 Kansas City Royals road jersey. The front of the jersey reads "Royals" in white script tackle twill and uniform number "5" just below the team name on the left breast area. KC Royals logo patch is sewn onto left sleeve. Dick Howser #10 memorial patch is missing from the right sleeve, meaning this jersey was used before July 3 of the '87 season when that patch was added. BRETT" in white block letters and large "5" are sewn onto the back. Brett has signed and inscribed “HOF 99” in blue marker on the large number “5” on the reverse. The jersey exhibits light to moderate wear with all six buttons intact. The jersey was donated by George Brett himself to Tony LaRussa's Animal Rescue Foundation event in May 2016 and was acquired at their charity auction. Awesome gamer from one of the best pure hitters in baseball history.

Autograph is pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
