Five of baseball’s brightest stars of the late 1920’s lent their names to promote their favorite tobacco brand. These 11 by 20 inch signs served as miniature billboards on the interiors of trolley cars and buses. The full set of five Lucky Strike advertising pieces are being offered in this auction individually, including; "Tony Lazzeri - New York Yankees Star Infielder," Lloyd Waner - “Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball Sensation 1927,” Paul Waner - “Voted N.L. Most Valuable Player 1927,” Bob “Lefty Grove” - Philadelphia Athletics Star Pitcher,” and Harry Heilmann - “Detroit Tigers World’s Leading Batter.”

The offered Lucky Strike sign featuring Lloyd Waner displays wonderfully with close inspection revealing some light vertical creasing from scrolling through the “E” in “Strike.” Some light surface wrinkles are present at the lower right corner, but the immediate eye appeal is unaffected by any of these issues. Completely original and unrestored, the sign is technically VG-EX but displays at a much higher level.
