“The Round Mound of Rebound,” better known as Charles Barkley, averaged a team-leading 23.2 points and 11.4 rebounds per game for the Phoenix Suns during the 1995-96 campaign. The team finished fourth in the NBA’s Pacific Division standings but that was certainly not the fault of the hard charging Sir Charles. This lot features his Phoenix Suns game-worn home jersey from that particular season. The white mesh jersey has all the proper tagging on the font left tail including the Phoenix Suns Champion manufacturer’s “Designed & Tailored Exclusively for Phoenix Suns” and “Body Length +3” tags. A separate washing instructions [size] 52 tag is located to the immediate right. The team name “SUNS” is positioned across the front in purple tackle twill outlined in black right above the Suns blazing basketball motif. His uniform number “34” is located just below that, also in purple tackle twill outlined in black. On the reverse is his last name “BARKLEY” as well as his “34” (in larger numbers seven inches tall) in like fashion. The jersey presents beautifully and exhibits minimal usage. According to the consignor, the jersey was originally procured directly from Barkley by George Leonard, a longtime Nashville Banner sportswriter who passed away in 2001.
