Great pair of baseballs covering Bob Scheffing's time as the manager of the Detroit Tigers, including a magnificent George Sosnak hand-painted ball. In 1961, Scheffing managed the Tigers to a terrific 101-61 record. Any other year that would have likely won the American League pennant and propelled them into the World Series. But the Yankees won 109 games that season, highlighted by the incredible home run chase of Mantle and Maris, and went on to win the World Series.

- Incredible looking George Sosnak hand-painted baseball is completely covered. One panel has an excellent portrait image of Scheffing with "AMERICAN LEAGUE MANAGER OF THE YEAR - 1961". Large Tiger logo and image of Tiger Stadium also are present. Amazing detailed listing of Scheffing's major and minor league playing and managing statistics. Another panel has a very detailed description of the events of the 1961 Detroit Tiger Baseball season. Amazing piece of artwork on a baseball. One of the nicest we have seen!

- OAL(Cronin) baseball signed by 28 members of the 1961 Detroit Tigers. Players are: Al Kaline, Frank Lary, Rocky Colavito, Paul Foytack, Vic Wertz, Mike Roarke, Charlie Maxwell, Steve Boros, Chico Fernandez, Howie Koplitz, Bubba Morton, Hank Aguirre, Don Mossi, Larry Osborne, Ron Kline, Don Heffner, Dick McAuliffe, Frank House, George Alusik, Ron Nischwitz, Manny Montejo, Bill Bruton, Terry Fox, Phil Regan, Bob Scheffing(SS), Dick Gernert, with a couple unidentified due to lightness of signatures. Blue ink signatures range from 1-6/10. Ball is lightly soiled.

Letter of Provenance from Bob Scheffing's son. Autographs pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
