Program to the June 22, 1938 World Heavyweight Championship Fight between Champion Joe Louis and challenger Max Schmeling held at Yankee Stadium in New York. Learning from his 12th round loss to Schmeling 2 years earlier Louis was determined to end the fight early and planned to go "all out" in the first 3 rounds. After about a minute or so of feeling Schmeling out Louis connected on 5 left hooks and one body blow which caused the referee to stop the action momentarily while he checked Schmeling out. Quickly the action resumed and Louis knocked Schmeling to the canvas for a count of 3. After action resumed Louis hit Schmeling in the head with 3 clean shots, dropping him again. Louis resumed his barrage of punches and leveled him for the 3rd and final time. At the count of 8 Schmeling's corner man, who had thrown in the towel when Schmeling went down, entered the ring to stop the fight, giving Louis a technical knockout. Louis had thrown 41 punches in 2 minutes 4 seconds, landing 31 to Schmeling's 2. Program features portrait drawings of both fighters and Yankee Stadium on the front. Program has not been scored and loaded with articles, photos, statistics, and period ads. Covers about VG with insides much better. Decent program to a very historic fight!
