Always a competitor, Los Angeles Dodgers’ pitching great Don Drysdale competed in the Danny Thomas Diplomat Golf Classic Pro Am on Dec. 2, 1969, and won! The date was just four months removed from Drysdale’s retirement announcement on August 11th at Dodger Stadium. The golf tournament was played at south Florida's Diplomat Presidential Country Club located between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. This lot features the silver-plated trophy that Drysdale took home with him following his outstanding performance on the links at the Pro Am event. The decoratively designed winner’s cup, which stands 10” tall and measures 9.5” wide, is engraved on the front with the following text: “WINNER DANNY THOMAS-DIPLOMAT GOLF CLASSIC Pro-Am Dec. 2, 1969.”
Includes LOA from the Drysdale Family.
