In 1961, L.A. Dodgers’ right-hander Don Drysdale was named to his third National League All-Star Team. The Midsummer Classic, played on July 31st at Boston’s Fenway Park, ended in a 1-1 draw. The game was called due to rain after nine innings with the score knotted at one. Drysdale was awarded this specially engraved silver-plated serving tray for being a participant in the game. The oval shaped tray, which measures 24” wide by 15” high, includes the following engraved text right smack dab in the center: “ALL STAR GAME BOSTON 1961 DON DRYSDALE.”
