In 1965, Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Don Drysdale had a season to remember. Not only did the 6’ 5” flame-thrower rack up 23 victories in 42 starts, but he also batted .300 and finished fifth in the balloting for the National League’s MVP award. The Dodgers won the N.L. pennant and went on to defeat the Minnesota Twins in seven games in the World Series. This lot features a beautifully crafted trophy awarded to Drysdale by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America on being named the Dodgers' “Player of the Year” that season. The 12” tall award sports a green marble base upon which sits a silver plated vase with a greenish hue that has been engraved with the following text: “DON DRYSDALE LOS ANGELES DODGERS PLAYER OF THE YEAR 1965.” Above the text is a raised green BBWAA emblem. The trophy weighs just over six pounds.

Includes LOA from the Drysdale Family.
