Lindsay Davenport retired in 2010 after a magnificent tennis career. On the ATP tour, she was ranked World No. 1 on eight different occasions for a total of 98 weeks. Since 1975, she is one of only five women (the others being Chris Evert, Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova and Serena Williams) who have ended the year as World No. 1 at least four times: 1998, 2001, 2004, and 2005. Davenport won three Grand Slams (one each at the Australian Open, the Wimbledon Championships and the US Open) and took home the gold medal at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.

Offered here is one of her match-used racquets, circa 2003-04 when she was at the top of her game. The Wilson Hammer Tour model, weighing 10.2 oz. and measuring 27.25 inches long with a 95 square inch head size, exhibits outstanding match use. Made with a Carbon Matrix frame, the black and orange racquet has a black grip with the taping material starting to crumble off. There are five broken strings and court contact marks on the outer rim of the face. Davenport has signed it twice in black marker, once on the inside rim and again on the middle shaft section. This lot also comes with a Davenport signed 4" by 6" photo. Davenport was born and raised in Laguna Beach and now lives in Irvine, CA. The items were donated to the Newport Sports Museum by a friend who procured them directly from her.

Includes Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
