SCP Auctions is proud to present the baseball hit by Boston Red Sox outfielder Shane Victorino for a grand slam home run in Game Six of the 2013 American League Championship Series. Nick Wood, a 23-year old University of Rhode Island student and lifelong Red Sox fan from Westborough, Mass., is the lucky fan that retrieved the ball that propelled Boston to a 5-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers to clinch a spot in the World Series. With the Red Sox down 2-1 in the seventh inning, Boston loaded the bases on a double, a walk and an error by shortstop Jose Iglesias. Victorino slammed an 0-2 pitch from Tigers’ pitcher Jose Veras over the Green Monster and sent the throng at Fenway Park into a frenzy.

“We were just jumping up and down and I heard this security guard screaming at us, saying, 'Ball, ball, ball!' And I looked down and it was literally rolling in between our feet. I grabbed it and after that it was just mayhem,” said Wood. “As a lifelong Red Sox fan, I’m glad to be part of such a historic moment.”

SCP Auctions is honored that Nick has chosen us to present this ball to the collecting public. It represents what will surely stand the test of time as one of the most iconic moments in Red Sox history and rank among the most dramatic post-season home runs in baseball history. Includes photo provenance and a signed Avadavat from Nick Wood.
