This 14-karat gold championship ring is a period salesman's sample for the first Super Bowl, when the Pack upended the upstart Kansas City Chiefs by a score of 35-10. This is the Super Bowl ring year that is coveted as beyond all others, the inaugural ring from a contrived spectacle that quickly grew into a national phenomenon and ultimately an unrivaled secular sports holiday. The offered ring is a true rarity, an actual period sample, cast in identical fashion by Jostens to those rings issued to the players. The quality is simply magnificent. A CZ stone glistens atop the face, encircled by raised lettering of "WORLD CHAMPIONS GREEN BAY PACKERS 1966." One shank carries "Starr" on the nameplate along with a Packers helmet with the title years of 1961, 1962, 1965 and 1966 engraved and a football with Starr's No. 15. The other shank delivers an NFL/AFL logo, the scores of the NFL Championship Game and the Super Bowl, and a crown with the words "HARMONY - COURAGE - VALOR." Located inside the band is engravings of the Size 11 1/2 and "JOSTEN 14K." The ring is in superb original condition with almost no trace of wear. This is as close as one can get to an authentic player issued Super Bowl I Packers ring without a near six-figure price tag. Weight: 40 grams.
