Here then is an important lot of match-worn shoes from perhaps the greatest rivalry in the history of women's professional tennis and certainly two of the top women players in history.

Martina Navratilova won 18 Grand Slam singles titles, 31 major women's doubles titles (an all-time record), and 10 major mixed doubles titles. She reached the Wimbledon singles final 12 times, including nine consecutive years from 1982 through 1990, and won the women's singles title at Wimbledon a record nine times. Her Size 8 1/2 Avia shoes are in superb condition, showing match use but problem-free and largely as-issued. Martina has signed in black sharpie along one of the fabric panels above the ankle.

Evert won 18 Grand Slam singles championships and three doubles titles. She was the year-ending World No. 1 singles player in 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1980, and 1981. Overall Evert won 157 singles championships and 29 doubles titles. Her career winning percentage in singles matches of 90 percent is the highest in the history of tennis, for men or women. Evert's personal model Converse GSV shoes are in simply spectacular condition, showing match use but still largely as-issued and problem-free. Evert signed "To Daniel, Chris Evert" on both shoes. (Daniel is the son of renowned shoe collector, Bill Ficke.)

Lot comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Bill Ficke.
