The man who came to personify the position of quarterback in the football-crazed province of Wisconsin also spent a year in the Big Apple, and to mighty good effect we might add. He was a 20-year veteran of the NFL, having played quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons (1991), Green Bay Packers (1992–2007), New York Jets (2008) and Minnesota Vikings (2009–2010). Favre is the only quarterback in NFL history to throw for over 70,000 yards, over 500 touchdowns.
Amid great consternation in the state of Wisconsin, Favre was traded to the New York Jets and started at quarterback for the 2008 season before signing with the Vikings on August 18, 2009, prompting the consternation meter to take another wild jump. He recorded an NFL record 297 consecutive starts (321 including playoffs) and is the only player to win the AP Most Valuable Player three consecutive times (1995–97). He led teams to eight division championships, five NFC Championship Games, and two Super Bowl appearances (Super Bowl XXXI, Super Bowl XXXII), winning one (Super Bowl XXXI).
Favre holds many NFL career records, including most touchdown passes, most passing yards, most pass completions, most attempts, interceptions, most sacked, and most fumbles, to name a handsome representative sampling.
This blazing green Favre home jersey shows the kind of light game use from the Jets' signal caller you might anticipate from the rare laugher in his 20 years in the NFL. On Nov. 9, 2008 the Jets upped their log to 6-3 with a 47-3 shellacking of the St. Louis Rams that saw Favre complete 14 of 19 passes for 167 yards and a score in a game where the Jets also piled up more than 200 yards on the ground. Favre was not sacked the entire day. Inside the rear collar is a strip tag with “08-52" directly above a sticker tag of "BCG8129X.". All elements of the jersey appear to be problem-free and essentially as-issued; the tails of this shirt are hemmed straight across the bottom with an elastic hem and a manufacturer’s tag noting Berlin, Wis. appears on the inside. Favre's No. 4 appears on the front, back and on both shoulders in white tackle twill (shirt) and green tackle twill on the sleeves. "Favre" appears across the back in white tackle twill on and a green nameplate. The sleeves feature the Reebok logo patch. At the V-neck is the “NFL Equipment” logo shield with adjacent “Jets” embroidered patch; the Captain's "C" patch is directly opposite. Favre planted his autograph in black Sharpie on his No. 4 on the jersey's back, adding his No. 4 inscription and the notation of "2008 Game Used." The jersey boasts impeccable provenance with Certificates of Authenticity from both the New York Jets, the NFL and PSA/DNA, and for good measure a pair of 3-by-5-inch color photographs showing Favre signing this very jersey.
Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
