As if Derek Jeter’s flair for drama was ever in question, he added another signature moment to his archive when he returned to the New York Yankees' lineup on July 28, 2013 after a prolonged stint on the DL. In the wake of a standing ovation at Yankee Stadium, Jeter homered on the first pitch he saw from Tampa Bay's Matt Moore. With customary heroism, the captain's drive ended the Yankees' nine-game homerless drought and momentarily ignited hope for a flagging season and fans throughout New York. Jeter received a loud ovation and came out for a humble curtain call, waving his cap from the next-to-top step of the Yankees dugout.

This amazing jersey is from that startling moment when the beloved Yankee captain returned to the playing field from the disabled list and with a single swing, sent the Bronx faithful into a tizzy of epic proportions. Though no one would have supposed it at the time, that July 28th homer turned out to be his only round tripper of 2013, meaning of course that as of this auction it stands as the final homer of his Hall of Fame career to date. The blazing Yankees pinstripe shirt features a bold blue Sharpie autograph positioned precisely beneath the iconic Yankees script logo on the front, along with his notation of "Game Used." The Size 48 Russell Athletic shirt carries all the appropriate tagging, plus the authentication trifecta of a New York Yankees bar code and MLB and Steiner holograms affixed to the shirt. The jersey shows good game use and retains ideal display quality.

Comes with a Steiner Letter of Authenticity.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
