Outstanding complete variation set of 36 high numbers from the very popular 1948 Bowman Basketball issue, including the Rookie card of the Legendary Minneapolis Lakers Hall of Fame center George Mikan. All cards are very well centered on the front with sharp picture images and the distinctive "gray" background, the product of red color missing from the printing process. Most would be considered NM or better looking if it were not for the fact they have been hand cut from a larger, single sheet. (All gray background cards are hand cut) The backs prove most interesting as they all have been triple printed, first with the original 1948 Bowman text, then with the back text from the Bowman "America Salutes the F.B.I. series, and finally with an upside down front picture from the Bowman "Movie Stars" set. Key cards included in the tough high numbers are "38 Jeanette(HOF), 43 Halbert, 46 McKinney, 48 Sadowski, 52 Simmons, 54 Palmer, 55 Zaslofsky, 58 Risen(HOF), 66 Pollard(HOF), 69 Mikan(HOF), and 72 Braun. All cards have been slabbed SGC AUTHENTIC. * #47, 48, and 49 have the flips reversed.
