This exceptional Reggie Jackson complete California Angels road uniform from the 1982-1984 time frame entered the hobby directly from Mr. October himself when he personally consigned it to MEARS in 2010. Reggie Jackson came to the Angels in 1982 as a highly sought after free agent with plenty of pop still left in his bat. Reggie Jackson would go on to hit 123 home runs (22% of his total) with the Halo’s. The jersey is tagged by Goodman & Sons on the lower left front tail noting the size 48. The jersey is without a year tag, but is dated to 1982-1984 by MEARS through a combination of factors. While Reggie Jackson played for the Angels from 1982-1986, the jersey can be eliminated from 1985 because of the absence of the Angles 25th Anniversary patch on the right sleeve. The jersey is also distinguishable from 1986 because of the different style patch worn on the left sleeve (round version in 1986). The construction of the jersey, featuring pullover design and Raglan sleeves is also period correct. The arch of individual letters and there general placement/alignment on the back also appears to be period appropriate as well according to MEARS. The jersey is also accompanied by a pair of road pants also manufactured by Goodman & Sons (non year dated) as well as a pair of red stirrups. MEARS has categorized the use and wear on the jersey as moderate to heavy. There is even and consistent surface wear to the twill fabric used for the lettering and numbering. The wear and fade to all stitching is also even and consistent throughout. The jersey is without any staining or soiling and is in original and unaltered condition. There is one small 3mm burn hole on the right sleeve. The use and wear on the pants is heavier in places than that of the jersey and the red stirrups show heavy use, one of which has repairs in two places. Jackson has signed both the jersey and pants in blue sharpie with his added notations “Mr October HOF 93.” As stated previously, this uniform was submitted to MEARS personally by Reggie Jackson for evaluation as stated in the authentication firms accompanying LOA. It has received a grade of A9.5 with the half point deduction resulting from the tiny hole on the sleeve. It is hard to imagine a finer game worn ensemble from Reggie’s celebrated tenure in Anaheim. LOA from MEARS (A9.5).
