President Ronald Reagan signed this highly unusual baseball, apparently mistakenly writing his last name twice and inadvertently creating an extraordinary rarity from a giant figure in American political history. The ball, a non-MLB baseball that carries an "Official League" and "Genuine Leather" stamping, was reportedly part of a dozen balls provided by the White House to an important GOP donor during the 1984 Presidential Campaign. The other 11 balls were said to have the more conventional first and last name autographs, with this particular ball the sole anomaly. The Reagan "double" signature is in very strong black marker; the ball also carries additional notations from an unknown hand in black marker in an attractive graphic style noting "USA Sunbelt Champions" and "1984" above and below the sweet spot Regan autograph. There are some minor staining instances on one panel that do not encroach on the autograph.
Includes a full LOA from both PSA/DNA and JSA.
