Fans who watched Bo Jackson in the 1980's had the feeling they were watching a once-in-a-lifetime athlete, in this case competing at the highest level in the two most-watched professional sports in the land. He is the only athlete to be named an All-Star in two major American sports and won the Heisman Trophy in 1985 at Auburn. In football, which he sheepishly referred to as his hobby, Jackson played running back for the Los Angeles Raiders of the National Football League. In baseball, he played left field and was a designated hitter for the Kansas City Royals, Chicago White Sox, and Anaheim Angels of the American League. A hip injury in January 1991 ended his football career and severely impaired his professional baseball career. Bo knew many things back in those giddy years, with shoes right up near the top of the list. He has taken these heavily game-used beauties to another level simply by penning a black Sharpie autograph on the outside Nike Swoosh panel on the left shoe with the inscription "To Big Bill." As noted, the shoes show enormous game use but remain largely with all elements intact and as-issued, though there has been considerable wear and chipping to the white paint on the inside fabric around the heel. No shoe size on the inside but shoes measure 12" from heel to toe on the outside.
