1972 Chicago Cubs game worn road coaches jersey belonging to Mr. Cub himself, Hall of Fame first baseman Ernie Banks. Banks has signed the jersey below the number 14 on the front in strong 8/10 blue felt tip pen. Wilson size 42 tag sewn in neck. On the left front tail is a tackle twill "72", designating the year. Name tag inside the neck has been removed. The name "Chicago" on the front had been removed and replaced with "Midland". The name "Chicago" has since been restored with the "Midland" glue stains still visible. Both letters and numbers are done in blue on white tackle twill. The team name change on front appears to be the only alteration. The jersey exhibits solid wear. 1972 was the only year in major league history that the number on the front was placed dead center, not to the side. Auction LOA for signature by JSA. Heritage Auctions LOA for jersey.
