Offered is a 36", 35 ounce professional model Rogers Hornsby Zinn Beck Diamond Ace game used bat. 1925-29 era Zinn Beck Extra Special center brand is present with "Rogers Hornsby Type" stamped below and "Ace of the Diamond" stamped on the barrel. Heavy use shown with ball marks, barrel gouging and dead wood and the handle remains uncracked. Regarding the manufacturer, Zinn Beck played 5 seasons with St. Louis (1913-16) and one with the New York Yankees (1918). During his 290 games Beck batted .226 with 3 home runs. During both the 1914 & 1915 seasons, Zinn Beck played with Hall of Farner Rogers Hornsby (1915-16). A known and experienced wood worker, Beck used his knowledge and experience from his major league baseball career to manufacture bats after his playing career ended. Professional bat authenticator MEARS has established that Zinn Beck was a supplier of game used bats to the major leagues and has documented this bat as a Hornsby gamer along with several others Zinn Beck game bats that have entered the hobby.
Regarded by many as the greatest right-handed hitter of all time, Rogers Hornsby took special care of his batting eyes, refusing to read newspapers or watch movies. He hit over .400 three times, won seven batting titles, and retired with the second highest batting average in baseball history (.358). Some say Hornsby's scientific approach to the craft of hitting rivaled that of Ted Williams a generation later.
Includes a LOA from MEARS.
