Here are two wonderful artifacts from the pre-NBA National Basketball League, including a souvenir program from the Rochester Royals from the 1947-48 season and a 1946-47 Dec. 3 game program featuring the home Syracuse Nationals vs. the Chicago American Gears with eventual NBA Hall of Famer George Mikan, who would ultimately lead his club to the league championship. Both pieces are 8 1/2-by-11 inches: the game program is 24 pages printed in black with spot green on the cover, while the 36-page Rochester Royals program is printed in black with red and blue front cover. Royals program is about Ex-Mt, jostled only by a couple of light pencil check marks adjacent to players' names on the score card section; The Syracuse game program presents mostly Ex, but has some staining on an upper corner and at the bottom, along with rust from the center staples that has stained and caused some separation of pages.
