Bret Saberhagen was a major prep star as a pitcher at Grover Cleveland High School, located in Reseda, Calif. Saberhagen starred in both basketball and baseball. In 1982, during Bret's senior year, he pitched a no-hitter and was the winning pitcher in the Los Angeles City Championship game, played at Dodger Stadium and was drafted out of high school by the Kansas City Royals in the 19th round of the 1982 Major League Baseball Draft. In this two-item lot from his personal collection comes handsome laminated plaques from the All-Southern California Board of Athletics noting his inclusion on the 1980 All-Los Angeles City High Schools Baseball Second Team as a sophomore and on the 1982 First Team as a senior. The laminated plaques are approximately 18-by-15 inches and have a gold seal from the Athletic Foundation and lithographed signatures from various foundation dignitaries. Interestingly, the 1982 plaque includes the lithographed signature of Peter Ueberroth, who signed as the President of the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee in his capacity on the First Interstate Bank Athletic Foundation. For actual signatures, it's hard to beat the four Saberhagen autographs in bold black Sharpie that appear two each on the plaques, one front and one on the back. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Bret Saberhagen.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
