Mike Tyson—a.k.a. “Iron Mike” a.k.a. "The baddest man on the planet" is the former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. He made his professional boxing debut at the tender age of 18. By the age of 20, Tyson had become the youngest boxer to win the WBC, WBA and IBF heavyweight titles, and the first to hold them all simultaneously. The young titan began his career by winning his first 19 bouts by knockout. If you were not in your seat early, you probably missed the fight due to his 12 first-round KOs.
Tyson was known for his strength, speed, accuracy, timing and overall power. He had the uncanny ability to win a fight before it even started by striking fear into the heart and mind of every opponent. His intimidating presence in the ring and brash cockiness outside of it garnered national media attention and made him a worldwide celebrity. Ring Magazine put Tyson on their list of "The Greatest Heavyweights of All Time", "Best Fighters of the Last 80 Years" and "100 Greatest Punchers of All Time." Many believe Tyson was the last true heavyweight champion.
A 'Tegata' is a traditional form of Japanese memorabilia that is reserved for only the most supreme athletes. Mike Tyson is the third Upper Deck Authenticated signee to have a Tegata piece produced. Utilizing handmade Japanese ‘Hamada’ paper, Iron Mike has inked his right hand in black and included an authentic ‘Inkan’ stamp, which aligns with the traditional craft. The overall keepsake, which measures 36" wide by 36" high, includes a 9.5" by 10.5" inset center upon which Tyson’s hand is inked surrounded by a matted mosaic background of action shots from his storied career. Supervised by UDA officials, Mike Tyson performed the Tegata hand-crafting process to produce 20 uniquely authentic stamps for this special release. This piece is limited to 20, the age in which he became the youngest undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. Tyson’s hand print has been authenticated by virtue of UDA's Five-Step Authentication Process. Includes a COA from UDA.
NOTE: Due to the size of this piece it will be drop shipped from UDA's North Carolina warehouse and appropriate freight charges will apply.
