This 10K Gold Size 6 1/2 ring was issued as part of a 25th anniversary celebration in 1975 of the famed Whiz Kids from 1950 that snagged a dramatic National League pennant on the last day of the season and captured the hearts of generations of Phillies fans in the process. The ring has a gold baseball affixed to the center of a deep-red stone on the face, encircled by the words "Phillies Whiz Kids NL Champions" in raised letters. One shank has "Meyer," for Russ Meyer, one of the key starting pitchers (9-11 in 159 innings) on that fabled squad, above a relief graphic of Shibe Park and the year, 1950. The other shank has "Pitcher," a relief depiction of Veterans Stadium and the year, 1975. Balfour 10K is engraved on the inside of the band. Ring appears to be as-issued in problem-free condition.
