With so many portraits of the great Ty Cobb so deeply imbedded in the national psyche, it's pretty rare to find one that doesn't seem as familiar (often bordering on cliche) as so many of the others. This is a simply superb black-and-white first-generation 6 1/2-by-8 1/2-inch Wirephoto of Cobb, with stamping on the back from the Keystone View Co. Inc. of New York. As noted, the image is sensational, presenting Ex-Mt or better but probably requiring a lower technical grade because of barely perceptible small creases. This is a true gem.
