A well-known portrait of Hall of Famer George Sisler taken by the legendary photographer Charles Martin Conlon headlines a nifty grouping of 16 first-generation Type-1 black-and-white photos of Sisler, his sons and several ballplayers from his era. The Conlon image is an 8-by-10 (with "Charles M. Conlon, Evening Telegram New York" stamping on the back) and presents well but has a couple of small creases and tears: there are 11 other 8-by-10's in the lot that are mostly in comparable condition (one is Poor), including two other "action" shots of Sisler; several of his son, George Sisler Jr.; a marvelous shot of sons George Jr. and Dick with Hall of Famer Rabbit Maranville; and a spectacular image of Sisler demonstrating his batting grip to a comely young lady in a flapper outfit who just happens to be holding a catcher's mitt and a baseball. Many of the 8-by-10's have original back stamping from various newspapers or wire services, and some have residue on the back from having been installed in an album. Four remaining photos - three (3) are 3 1/2-by-5 inches and one slightly smaller - show three nice Sisler images and the fourth with Browns owner Phil Ball, Sisler and fellow National Slugger Ken Williams. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the Sisler Family.
