Offered is a magnificent Milwaukee Braves road jersey worn by outfielder Wes Covington during his 1956 rookie season. Covington backed up the regular outfielders in 1956 before taking over left field pretty much for himself from 1957 through 1960. He was sold to the Cubs at the beginning of 1961 season. The gray zipper front flannel jersey is lettered "Braves" across the chest (above their distinctive tomahawk patch) with the number "43" appearing on both the left front breast and reverse. All letters and numbers are in red felt with black trim. A Braves "screaming Indian" patch is sewn on the left sleeve. "Covington" and “1956” have been chain stitched on separate white felt tags on the left front tail. A "Wilson 44" label and wash tag appear directly above the name tag on the left front tail. The jersey is completely original and unaltered, exhibiting beautiful game use. 1950's Milwaukee Braves flannel jerseys have always been highly prized by collectors due to their attractive design and aesthetically appealing features, with this particular one being an exceptional example from the era.
