This medallion was awarded to Chris Mullin in the summer of 1992 for his participation in the pre-Olympics Tournament of the Americas held in Portland, Ore., in the weeks prior to the Barcelona Games. The tournament, won even more handily by the USA squad than would be the case a few weeks later in Spain, gave the world its first glimpse of what kind of mischief the vaunted "Dream Team" might be up to, and a 136-57 thrashing of Cuba seemed to neatly set the tone for the summer. The 1 3/4-inch in diameter medallion has the tourney logo on one side surrounded by engraved text that reads "Basketball Tournament of the Americas, Portland, Oregon 1992': the reverse shows the names of the 10 nations from the Western Hempishere that took part. The medallion appears to be in essentially as-issued and problem-free condition and comes in an attractive blue felt jewelry box. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Chris Mullin.
