As one could have anticipated, John Havlicek's final swing through the NBA circuit in the spring of 1978 was filled with outpourings of the affection that fans had for the great star as he prepared to head into retirement after 17 Hall of Fame season with the Celtics. This 14K gold whistle presented to Havlicek by the New Orleans Jazz during that farewell tour is among the more innovative solutions that Havlicek fans came up with as a means to honor him. The whistle is a gold key-chain, with "Celtics" ornately engraved on one side of the whistle and an elegant "H" on the other. On the bottom of the whistle are additional engravings that read: "From the New Orleans Jazz, March 1, 1978." All elements appear to be in spectacular Near-Mint condition, with no hint that any pair of lips has ever even approached the, uh, nozzle. Comes in an attractive 4-inch-square polished cherrywood box, with white leather pillow interior to house the whistle; both whistle and box appear to be in largely as-issued and problem-free condition. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from John Havlicek.
