This 14-inch in diameter silver plate was presented to Bret Saberhagen for his selection as a member of the 1987 American League All-Star Team, his first All-Star appearance. He was also the starting pitcher in the game at Oakland that saw the two leagues battle for 12 scoreless innings before the visitors prevailed by virtue of a two-run triple from game MVP Tim Raines. Saberhagen contributed mightily to the cause with three scoreless innings. The handsome silver plate showcases the Major League All-Star logo etched at the center, surrounded by Oakland A's 1987 All-Star Game. Additional engraving at the top and bottom rim of the plate notes "American League All-Star Team" and Bret Saberhagen, Kansas City Royals." The plate displays nicely, but despite its extraordinary sturdiness and apparent durability, is betrayed by several bumps, dings and a seeming warping effect that is most noticeable when the plate is viewed from the side rather than head on. Saberhagen enhanced the keepsake with an impressive blue Sharpie autograph on the back of the plate. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Bret Saberhagen.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
