The New York Chapter of the Baseball Writers of America presents this 10 1/2-by-13 1/2-inch oval award to the top postseason performer in Major League Baseball, one of the most prestiguious and longest running honors dating back to 1949. Bret Saberhagen's phenomenal World Series in 1985 when he capped his sophomore year in the major leagues by allowing a single earned run in two complete-game World Series wins sewed up this important award along with the World Series MVP trophy and a host of others. A silver "diamond" is crossed by a bat and a fountain pen with a baseball at the center: each quadrant has the following engravings: 1) Bret Saberhagen; 2) The Babe Ruth Award; 3) To the Most Outstanding Player of the 1985 World Series; and 4) Presented by the New York Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America. On the green felt on the bottom of the wood base, Saberhagen has added an enormous 5-inch black Sharpie signature. The entire piece appears to be in as-issued and problem-free condition. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Bret Saberhagen.
