Around 1972 boxing equipment manufacturer Everlast began to supply Muhammad Ali with specially made equipment. Gloves, trunks, and headgear were produced exclusively for Ali by the company with the phrase, "Made Expressly for Muhammad Ali" incorporated into the tagging. The only other instance whereby the equipment giant had previously administered such exclusive labeling was for boxing legend Joe Louis. These Everlast trunks are documented as “Fight worn” in an accompanying handwritten note from Angelo Dundee without his reference to a specific fight. Extensive photographic and video research narrows the possible usage attribution to a few fights between 1973-76, most notably the first fight with Norton in San Diego, or possibly the last Norton fight (1976) in Yankee Stadium.

While we can make no definitive assertion of a specific fight, the origin of these Everlast Ali trunks from Angelo Dundee’s personal collection and his written attribution of fight use by Ali, puts them in the heavyweight class of historic boxing memorabilia.

Comes with a handwritten note from Angelo Dundee and his son, Jim describing the trunks as fight worn.
